Virat Kohli scores a century against Afghanistan in Asia Cup 2022, India registers a convincing win

India beat Afghanistan by 101runs in the Asia Cup 2022 held in Dubai. One highlight of this huge win was the century of Virat Kohli. It was his maiden T20I century. He was promoted to open the batting and he proved his worth. India was in a precarious situation and might have been eliminated from the tournament. Kohli (33) remained unbeaten on 122 runs off 61 balls and helped the men in blue to post a score of 212/2 in 20 overs against Afghanistan. Kohli hit 12 boundaries and six sixers (over boundaries). Afghanistan was no match for India. Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up five wickets and wrecked the opponents. Incidentally, he claimed the five wickets for just four runs in his four overs. It devastated the Afghanistan team and India registered a massive win to end the tournament on a high.

Second successive loss of India in Asia Cup 2022 – this time to Sri Lanka

India lost the toss and had to bat first. They had a shaky start by losing KL Rahul and Virat Kohli in quick succession. However, captain Rohit Sharma steadied he innings with Suryakumar Yadav. The two of them added 100 runs in just 12 overs. Rohit scored 72 runs in 42 balls – it included 4 sixers and 5 boundaries. Yadav went out after scoring just 34 runs in 29 balls. Then followed Hardik Pandya and Risabh Pant. Both of them went back to the pavilion after scoring 17 runs each. India finally ended its innings at 173 for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madushanka took 3 wickets while Chamika Karunaratne and Dasun Shanaka took 2 wickets each. Sri Lanka defeats India by 6 wickets in Asia Cup 2022.



Sri Lanka responded to the Indian challenge well. Its openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis dominated the game from the beginning. They crossed 50 runs in just five overs with the former scoring 52 runs in 37 balls and his partner scored 57 runs in 37 balls. Sri Lanka won the match in the last over. Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took 3 wickets. With this loss, India is almost out of the tournament. It lost to Pakistan in its previous match and India's hopes would depend on the performance of Afghanistan against Pakistan on Wednesday.

TATA IPL 2022 – Match no 13 – thrilling win for Royal Challengers Bangalore

The venue of TATA IPL 2022 – Match no 13 was the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. RCB won the toss and sent in RR to bat. Rajasthan Royals are at the top of the points table after having won both their matches. Royal Challengers Bangalore are at No 7 with one win. RR have made 169 for 3 after 20 overs with Jos Buttler on 70 not out with 6 sixers. Shimon Hetmyer added 42 runs and Devdutt Padikkal was out on 37.





In reply, RCB scored 173 for 6 to script a thrilling win. It was due to brilliant knocks by Dinesh Karthik who remained not out on 44 and Shahbaz Ahmed who scored 45 with 3 sixers. Captain Faf Du Plessis made made 29 but Virat Kohli was run out cheaply. Player of the Match was Dinesh Karthik.

TATA IPL 2022 – Match no 6 - Royal Challengers Bangalore outplays Kolkata Knight Riders

The venue of Match no 6 of the TATA IPL 2022 was the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. Royal Challengers Bngalore won the toss and elected to bowl. Kolkata Knight Riders kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Andre Russel top scored with 25 – it included 3 sixers. Nitish Rana, Sunil Naraine and Sam billings also hit sixers. Wanindu Hasaranga bagged 4 wickets. The final score was 128 in 18.5 overs. KKR never expected to put up such a poor show when they had batsmen in their midst who could hit big shots.





It was not a difficult target for Royal Challengers Bangalore. They made 132 for 7 and achieved the win in the last over. Top order batsmen like Faf du Plesssis, Virat Kohli, and Anuj Rawat could not make any impression. Batsmen down the order like Sherfane Rutherford made 28 runs while Shahbaz Ahmed made 27. They saved the day for RCB. Wanindu Hasaranga was the Player of the Match.

TATA IPL 2022 – Match No 3 – RCB put up a 200 plus score and PBKS romps home with one over to spare

It was the 2nd match of Sunday at the D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The teams were Royal Challengers Bangalore RCB captained by Faf du Plessis and Punjab Kings PBKS captained by Mayank Agarwal. The latter won the toss and decided to bowl. RCB managed to post an impressive score of 208 for 2 with Faf du Plessis scoring 88 (7 sixers). Virat Kohli with 41(2 sixers) and Dinesh Karthik 32 (3 sixers) remained not out. No doubt, RCB had set a difficult target for PBKS.





In reply, Punjab Kings proceeded with caution. The first wicket to fall was in the 7th over at a score of 71. Each batsman contributed and gradually, the target was within reach. Together they hit 14 sixers and made 208 for the loss of 5 wickets with one over to spare. Odean Smith was the Player of the Match with his 25 runs off 8 balls that included 3 sixers.
