Meghan Markle celebrates her 41st birthday

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, spent her 41st birthday in the company of people she loves the most. They were Prince Harry, her husband and their two children, 3-year-old son Archie and one-year-old daughter Lilibet. The rest of the royal family stays in the UK and they took to the social media to celebrate the occasion of Meghan turning another year older. Meghan Markle Is Celebrating Her 41st Birthday With ‘Family and Dear Friends.’ Among them were Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge. Harry’s father Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla also wished Meghan. Incidentally, the birthday came a few weeks after the two of them visited New York City. There Harry made a speech in honor of Nelson Mandela Day. The event was at the U.N. General Assembly. While paying tribute, Harry referred to Meghan as his “soulmate.”

The pair made their first joint public appearance in the U.K. in April. That was the first time since they stepped down from their royal duties. It seems the two of them made a brief stop at London to meet the Queen while en-route to the 2022 Invictus Games in Netherlands. The reunion was at Windsor Castle and Harry admitted that his grandmother was in “great form.” Harry founded the Invictus Games that promote different games meant for war-disabled veterans. The couple now lives in Santa Barbara, California. In March 2020, they announced their plans to step away from their roles in the royal family. Later, in March 2021, they confirmed permanently moving to the United States. That was prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

In June, a section of the media mentioned that Charlotte and her siblings were royal scene-stealers. Concept of the monarchy is gradually changing. The nature of bringing up children today is different from earlier days. This is the 21st century, and royal moms have to retune their frequency in view of the world of social media. Incidentally, Prince William met Kate Middleton at the University of St. Andrews and they tied the knot in 2011 at Westminster Abbey in a ceremony. It received global coverage in the electric media. William is second in line to the British throne after his father Prince Charles.

They had to choose between Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone who is also an Indian actor. The Russo Brothers pick Priyanka Chopra over Deepika Padukone for Captain Marvel. Deepika made her debut in Hollywood in 2017 with her in xXx: Return of Xander Cage but the dice fell in favor of Priyanka. It seems the Russo Brothers had come to India to promote their Netflix release The Gray Man. The press conference was in Mumbai and Dhanush was present. During the conference they revealed that they are friends of Priyanka Chopra and are keen that she portray the role of Captain Marvel. They are producers of Priyanka's debut web show, Citadel. They also categorically ruled out the name of Deepika Padukone. The Russo Brothers already have a Netflix film, The Gray Man.

Russo Brothers, the director-duo, hold Priyanka in high esteem. They describe her as an incredible star and admitted being her fan and good friend. They also revealed that they are producing a show, Citadel and it will stream on Amazon Prime Video. She thanked all those who had been a part of the mammoth project. Citadel is an American science fiction drama.

Television has been a great help in many areas. It has a fantastic reach and in India, it used to be a tool of education. In its infancy, it was the Doordarshan. ‘Door’ meant distant and ‘darshan’ meant view – in short, it was to bring people closer. Accordingly, in the initial stages, the television was black and white. Its purpose was to bring people together and share important messages. There were slots reserved for entertainment and the fare dished out had variety. Moreover, there were restrictions on the length of programs. These were of 13 episodes spread over as many weeks. Obviously, those who produced those had to be careful about quality. A few programs went beyond the limitations and still managed to keep the audience waiting for more. Those were like the epics Ramayan, Mahabharat and social dramas like Buniyad. Then there were lovable serials like Mungerilal, Malgudi Days, Hum Paanch, Aisa bhi hota hai etcetera,

However, once the TV sets shifted from the B&W era into the color era and the DTH option arrived, viewers had plenty of choice. Rooftop tube antennas made way for the dish, the number of TV channels increased several fold as did the number of serials on offer. It became a 24X7 affair and the reach crossed geographical boundaries. Viewers in UK and USA could enjoy homemade serials. As a result, the demand for new faces increased and grooming centers mushroomed, choreographers flourished as did beauty parlors. These brought with them dangers of exploitation of a section of artistes, especially of the fairer sex. As for the TV serials, a time is gradually coming when producers appear to be running out of ideas. The viewer is not worried – he can switch channels. When it comes to the news, it has been reduced to a propaganda machine for those who rule. Others have to grin and bear it. Of course, newsreaders are happy – many of them, who have talent, switch channels. Sad to say, we have become idiots because of not only the TV but also because of the social media.

The Income Tax department has honored Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar with a ‘samman patra’, which translates into certificate of honor. This was because he had dutifully paid his income tax and became the highest taxpayer from the entertainment industry. Normally, many persons from this industry try to avoid paying taxes and Akshay Kumar was an exception. This is reported in the media. Akshay Kumar named as the highest taxpayer once again; receives a honour certificate from Income Tax department. He is an Indian-born naturalised Canadian actor and film producer. He has been working in the Hindi cinema for over three decades. With more than 100 films to his credit, he has won a number of awards. These include a National Film Award for Best Actor in 2016 for his performances in Rustom. He also won two Filmfare Awards.

He is known as the Khiladi star and is a busy actor. Right now, he is shooting in the UK and the honour certificate of the Income Tax department was received by his team on his behalf. Incidentally, he has been one of the highest taxpayers of India over the last five years. That reveals volumes for an actor many of whom try to suppress information in relation to taxable earnings. There are many of his films in the pipeline. He is a fitness freak, works out in the gym regularly and is proud of his body. The result is an able dancer and an actor who can portray strong persons. The Enforcement Directorate ED has unearthed crores of rupees and huge cache of gold and silver ornaments from the residences of Arpita Mukherjee, a screen heroine of Bengal. She is believed to be a close friend of Partho Chatterjee, a Minister of Trinamool Congress TMC which is the ruling party. The revelation has come as a shock to one and all because she had links with one of the most famous Durga Puja in Kolkata. It seems the authorities had to bring in counting machines to take stock of the cash and cart them away in trucks. They had to literally work round the clock to count the cash. The amount recovered from two of her residences was mind-boggling. It was nearly Rs 80 crores and the ornaments added up to several Kgs. This haul of cash and ornaments came following searches conducted by the ED based on certain inputs. The search was related to an ongoing investigation vis-à-vis the Bengal SSC Recruitment Scam. The incident has tarnished the image of the ruling party and it might have to take some hard and unpleasant decisions.

Of course, Dwayne Bravo did pick up 3 wickets but a loss is a loss. CSK won the title last year and are the defenders. They have a really tough job ahead. They must gel as a team to remain relevant.
