‘Hotel Transylvania 2’ – record weekend box office collection of $47.5 million

Adam Sandler’s ‘Hotel Transylvania 2’ with a weekend box office collection of an impressive $47.5 million was a sort of record and it provided a huge win for not just star Adam Sandler but also Sony Pictures- this was the studio behind the animated franchise.
This has been reported in foxnews.com dated 27 September 2015.
Both had endured rough patches at ticket booths with Sandler, once among the most consistently commercial leading men in Hollywood, suffering a series of flops like “Blended,” “That’s My Boy,” and “Jack and Jill” that have inspired questions about his bankability.
Sony also had its share of problems with its inner workings laid bare in last year’s hack attack by North Korea. The result was a summer that saw films like “Aloha” and Sandler’s video game “Pixels” rejected by audiences.
Of course, things began to change and an upswing has been visible in recent weeks. It has now set a new September record, passing the previous “Hotel Transylvania’s” $42.5 million start in 2012. The $80 million production got off to a strong start overseas, outpacing the first film’s results in parts of Latin America and Asia.
