Second successive loss of India in Asia Cup 2022 – this time to Sri Lanka

India lost the toss and had to bat first. They had a shaky start by losing KL Rahul and Virat Kohli in quick succession. However, captain Rohit Sharma steadied he innings with Suryakumar Yadav. The two of them added 100 runs in just 12 overs. Rohit scored 72 runs in 42 balls – it included 4 sixers and 5 boundaries. Yadav went out after scoring just 34 runs in 29 balls. Then followed Hardik Pandya and Risabh Pant. Both of them went back to the pavilion after scoring 17 runs each. India finally ended its innings at 173 for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madushanka took 3 wickets while Chamika Karunaratne and Dasun Shanaka took 2 wickets each. Sri Lanka defeats India by 6 wickets in Asia Cup 2022.



Sri Lanka responded to the Indian challenge well. Its openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis dominated the game from the beginning. They crossed 50 runs in just five overs with the former scoring 52 runs in 37 balls and his partner scored 57 runs in 37 balls. Sri Lanka won the match in the last over. Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took 3 wickets. With this loss, India is almost out of the tournament. It lost to Pakistan in its previous match and India's hopes would depend on the performance of Afghanistan against Pakistan on Wednesday.
