Work of Indian Censor Board increases in view of more films with ‘A’ certification

The work of the Indian Film Censor Board is on the rise because the number of movies produced is increasing as also the number of films with an ‘A’ rating – ‘A’ means a film meant for Adults only. The board has to now review these films and consider whether they can be awarded the U/A certification – that would allow the films to be released in the TV circuit which generates much more revenue.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 3 August 2015.
As per statistics, a total of 249 films with 'adult' (A) certification were re-examined and given U/A certificate in 2012. This number went up to 276 in 2013 and 284 in 2014. This year, till date, about 1,400 films have been certified by the Censor Board since January and 189 were adult films that were given U/A certificate.
U/A certificate means that under-12s can see them but, under adult supervision because some scenes may be unsuitable for them. The Bollywood producers often agreeable to delete "objectionable'' scenes and even mute words to meet the recommendations of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Some examples are - remove words like lesbian, Bombay, saala to get the U/A certification.
