David Bowie succumbs to his 18-month battle against cancer

#davidbowie David Bowie is no more – he has passed away after an 18-month battle with cancer. This has been confirmed by his son on Twitter. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Bowie had released his 29th album, called Blackstar, on Friday 8 January - it coincided with his 69th birthday.

The album has seven songs, including one called Lazarus which starts with the lyrics: "Look up here, I'm in heaven, I've got scars that can't be seen, I've got drama, can't be stolen, everybody knows me now."
David Bowie was born as David Jones in post-war Brixton, south London, and had kicked off his music career in the R&B boom of the early Sixties. It was in 1969 that he made his first appearance in the charts with Space Oddity.
He made a surprise comeback in 2013 when he suddenly released a new single on his 66th birthday with an album out just weeks later, his first for 10 years. He was awarded a Grammy lifetime achievement award in February 2006 and his final performance on stage was later that year when he sang alongside Alicia Keys at the Black Ball in New York.

Fashion show for dwarfs held in Paris and New York

The culture ministry of France has held an entire dwarf fashion show as a part of the normal Paris Fashion Week calendar. This is because the government is supporting an initiative to promote alternative standards of beauty in an industry that promotes being tall and thin.

There were a total of fifteen women dwarves all measuring under 4 feet 4 inches (1.22 meters, 10.16 centimeters) – they trod the boards proudly in the latest colorful spring-summer fashions that was designed by a team of designers especially for the show.
Incidentally, on February 2015, a similar dwarf fashion show was held as part of the New York Fashion Week at Lincoln Center.
As indicated by organizers of the show, fashion services provider Creative Business House (CBH), this show is the first in the nation of its kind. There are approximately 30,000 people living with dwarfism in the United States The Dwarf Fashion Show Owner Myriam Chalek explains - fashion] is not about the person who is wearing the garment but it is about the garment. If one can walk the runway and showcase the outfit, then she can be a model.

Singer David Bowie is expected to provide music for the "rousing tale of a simple sea sponge who faces the unfathomable" which will open in Chicago. He would be one of the singers who has signed up to write a song for a new SpongeBob SquarePants musical.

It will also feature songs from John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, The Flaming Lips, T.I. and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, among others and Nickelodeon has announced that it will produce the show in Chicago next summer.
Producers have branded it as a celebration of unbridled hope, unexpected heroes, and pure theatrical invention. In case this musical becomes a success, it could move to Broadway in New York.
SpongeBob SquarePants is an animated cartoon about a sea sponge who lives under the sea in a city called Bikini Bottom and it has won many awards and spawned a number of films. One of these movies is The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water and it was released in February.
Incidentally, children's material has successfully made the leap to stage on previous occasions like The Addams Family, Annie and Shrek.
