The film is an adaption of the book "The 15:17 to Paris: The True Story of a Terrorist, a Train, and Three American Heroes" by a veteran journalist.

Te three men were a college student, an Oregon National Guardsman and a US Air Force Airman and they were in the train traveling from Brussels to Paris in 2015. They came across a man in the train and he had with him an AK47 and a knife and attempted to attack. The three men tackled the terrorist and saved about 500 lives on board.
They were lauded for the bravery and were awarded with French Legion of Honor medals, the country's highest honour. They also met former US President Barack Obama, who appraised them as the "best of America".
Others in the film are Jenna Fischer, Judy Greer and Ray Corasani.
Clint Eastwood is a famous American actor and director and won Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture, as well as received nominations for Best Actor for his work in the Western film "Unforgiven" (1992) and the sports drama "Million Dollar Baby" (2004). Incidentally, he has turned laymen into heroes with his movies "Sully" and "American Sniper".
