Norway offers Indian filmmakers attractive incentives to shoot movies on its soil

Norway offers Indian filmmakers attractive incentives to shoot movies on its soil Norway is extending a number of incentives to Indian film makers to shoot movies on their soil. The stunning fjords of Norway and its picturesque towns could soon become more common sights for Indian film lovers because the Scandinavian country would give an incentive of up to 25 percent subsidy on the cost of shooting a film on its soil.
This has been indicated by Ambassador of Norway to India Nils Ragnar Kamsvag and reported in ibnlive.com dated 30 March 2016.
As the Ambassador has said - the Norwegian Government and the Norwegian Film Institute anticipate that the system of incentives will keep local projects in the country and bring in more international projects, including from countries like India.
Norway offers stunning, un-spoilt nature, the fjords, the mountains and picturesque towns that are offered to the Indian film industry. Only some locations of Norway have appeared in Indian movies and the Anish Tejeswar-starrer “Akira” has become the first Kannada film ever to be shot there. Seeing Indian actors doing dance steps in freezing temperatures is a new experience for Norwegians. It was the first time that a Kannada movie was shot at an international location at a grand scale.
In short, the beauty of the whole of Europe is available in Norway and, going by the incentives, the Indian films will make sure this beauty is exposed to the global audience in the near future because Norway can be said to offer an excellent mix of natural beauty and city charm for the Indian moviegoers.

Superman Henry Cavill could be the future James Bond

Henry Cavill is at present setting box offices alight with his role in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” as the world’s greatest superhero. However, he has revealed that he would “love” an opportunity to portray the role of James Bond, the world’s greatest spy. This has been reported in indianexpress.com dated 25 March 2016.
Since Daniel Craig has reportedly done away with his role as James Bond, 32-year-old Henry Cavill could fill in the vacuum - it has been rumored that he is in running to be the next 007.
When he was asked in a a show as to whether he would like to take up the role as the suave British spy he did not readily give any reply but indicated that it will all depend on a number of factors. He is very busy with the Superman stuff and, if there were any windows and they wanted him to do that kind of role it would be great and he would love to avail the opportunity.
Daniel Craig has held down the role as James Bond since 2006 and it is understood that he would not be returning for a fifth movie. Idris Elba has long been the favorite to replace him, but in the face of his continued denials, other names have emerged like Damian Lewis, Tom Hardy, Aidan Turner and, now, Henry Cavill.

Sir Paul McCartney to star in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

It is rumored that Sir Paul McCartney (73) has joined the cast of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. US entertainment site Deadline has revealed that producer Jerry Bruckheimer and directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg have added "an extra big set-piece" scene which is "built around" Sir Paul McCartney, the former Beatle.
The role he will perform in is not disclosed and his publicist has declined to comment.
This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz dated 26 March 2016.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is the fifth entry in the blockbusting Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and is filmed in Queensland. It stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.
Incidentally, McCartney is noit new to movies. He has appeared in several movies dating from his days as a member of the Fab Four. Way back in 1964, he, alongside John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison had starred in A Hard Day's Night. The acclaimed movie, directed by Richard Lester, depicted a typical day in the life of The Beatles and featured a number of their songs.
Hard Day's Night was followed by Help! in the next year - this movie revolved around the chart-topping group facing an evil cult and, once again, it was driven by the music of The Beatles.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will see Aussie Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush return as Barbossa and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner. In addition, Javier Bardem has been cast as villainous Captain Salazar while British actress Kaya Scodelario, of Skins fame, will play new character Carina Smyth.
The movie Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is slated for release in 2017.

The Rolling Stones land in Cuba for their free concert

The Rolling Stones have landed in Havana, the capital of Cuba, on the eve of the rock band's historic free concert in a country where its music was once silenced. All members including Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Keith Richards and Ron Wood have landed. Mick Jagger briefly greeted fans in Spanish and said he was happy to be on the island.
This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz dated 25 March 2016.
The concert is scheduled to be held in The concert will be at Havana's Ciudad Deportivo on Friday night and it would be three days after President Barack Obama wrapped up a visit to the communist-run island. During his visit, he declared an end to the last remnant of the Cold War in the Americas.
The Rolling Stones arrived in their private plane and flew into Jose Marti airport - the team has the four British rockers and nearly 60 technical workers and family members.
It may be recalled that in the heat of Cuba's revolution from the 1960s to the 1980s, foreign bands like The Rolling Stones were considered subversive and blocked from the radio. Interestingly, the Cubans listened to their music in secret, and passed on records from hand to hand. The band has now come to Cuba after doing concerts in Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina and Mexico.

Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor return from Arunachal Pradesh after shooting 'Rangoon'

Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor have returned back from Arunachal Pradesh after shooting for their upcoming movie 'Rangoon' - it had been a grueling three week schedule for them and Saif Ali Khan also came by for a few days to shoot his portion of the film which is basically a love story set during the Second World War.
This has been reported in indianexpress.com dated 23 March 2016.
The producer of 'Rangoon' is Sajid Nadiadwala and he had made arrangements to shoot for the film at virgin locales which were not close to their hotel. Obviously, the living conditions left much to be desired but no one complained. Saif Ali Khan was there for a couple of days and he soldiered through long drives to and between Pasighat, Rottung and Kibang. At times it was an eight nine-hour journey one way. He also undertook long treks through jungles.
Since the sun rises early in the eastern regions, action started from 4 am. They packed up early also - by 4-5 pm because by then the light would fade and everyone would be in bed by 8 pm.
Shahid Kapoor could not forego his workouts since he portrays the role of a soldier in the film and needed to be in peak physical condition for the action scenes. He’s never been fitter.
'Rangoon' is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and is expected to release on October 14.

'Money Monster' starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts to be screened at Cannes 2016

'Money Monster' starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts will be screened at Cannes Film Festival 2016. The film is directed by Jodie Foster and is a thriller about a financial talk show host held hostage by an irate viewer. This would mean that at least one major Hollywood studio, Sony, will have a presence at this year’s festival that will run May 11-22.
This has been reported in indianexpress.com dated 16 March 2016.
It seems the lineup has been kept a closely guarded secret and under tight wraps as the festival director Thierry Fremaux and his team finish watching films and mull their options. However, "Money Monster” may not be the opening-night film on May 11. Rather, it could be screened the next day since it hits theaters in North America on May 13.
In terms of other films that could play at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, one possibility is Woody Allen’s untitled romantic comedy set in the 1930s, starring Jeannie Berlin, Steve Carell, Jesse Eisenberg, Blake Lively, Parker Posey, Kristen Stewart, Corey Stoll and Ken Stott.

Boeing 747 Ed Force One belonging to British band Iron Maiden met with an accident

Iron Maiden is a British band and its Boeing 747 named Ed Force One was badly damaged during a ground collision in Santiago, Chile. Fortunately. none of the band members or crew were on board the aircraft when it collided with a ground tug while being taken for refueling. However, a couple of the airport staff were injured.
This has been reported in news.sky.com dated 13 March 2016.
The plane is usually piloted by lead singer Bruce Dickinson, who is a qualified commercial pilot. The accident apparently occurred while the aircraft was attached to a tow truck to be taken for refueling. It seems the steering pin, which connects the ground tug to the plane, got dislodged and fell out. As a result, when the aircraft made a turn, it collided with the tug.
The damages are major and the band has indicated that they are making contingency plans to reach their show in Cordoba, Argentina. The report of the flight engineers, who are on site and evaluating the damage, reveals that the engines have suffered large damage and will require an extended period of maintenance and possibly two new engines.
The band has said that the 20 tons of equipment had not been loaded onto Ed Force One at the time of the accident, and none of the band or road crew were on board or near the airport at the time. This is, undoubtedly, tragic for the beautiful plane but it will not affect the concert schedule including the next two shows in Cordoba and Buenos Aires.

West Bengal tourism to ride piggy-back on Amitabh Bachhan starrer 'Te3n'

West Bengal tourism plans to ride piggy-back on Amitabh Bachhan starrer 'Te3n' to attract tourists to the state. The producers of the film have recently approached the West Bengal tourism department with a proposal of co-branding with the movie 'Te3n' which has been shot extensively in the city of Kolkata.
This has been reported in indianexpress.com dated 6 March 2016.
'Te3n' is a thriller produced by Sujoy Ghosh and directed by debutant Ribhu Dasgupta. It is being shot in West Bengal and stars Amitabh Bachchan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and the state government wants to use it to attract tourists. A proposal to this effect has been put up and the modalities are being worked out. West Bengal Tourism is keen to gets a credit in the trailer.
There are already plans to have a Bengal tourism advertisement along with the film trailer because it will soon launch its TV commercial 'Experience Bengal — Sweetest Part of India’ featuring Shah Rukh Khan. A number of hit Hindi films have been shot in the city even in recent years, and this would be the first time that Bengal tourism will be promoted through a Bollywood film.

And, more recently, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone’s father-daughter tale of “Piku” was also shot in the city.

The Rolling Stones to perform in an open air concert in Cuba

The Rolling Stones are set to perform in Havana this month and that would make them to be the first British band to play an open air concert in Cuba. The free performance is scheduled to be held at the Ciudad Deportiva de la Habana on 25 March, just three days after President Obama wraps up his own visit to Cuba.
This has been reported in news.sky.com dated 1 March 2016.
It will be a big break for them because their music had once been banned on the Caribbean island for being an "ideological deviation". The band is promising to present a "set packed full of classic Stones hits as well as special gems from their million selling albums". Their gig will be held in a 64-acre sports complex after President Obama concludes his own visit to Cuba. It would have been a historic trip as he becomes the first sitting US President to go to Havana since 1928 - this is seen as a crucial step for thawing of relations between the former Cold War foes. Incidentally, many big musical names of the 1960s, like Elvis Presley and The Beatles, were banned after the island's communist revolution in 1959. Of course, the country's figurehead, Fidel Castro, had later admitted that he regretted the move. He even unveiled a statue to John Lennon in a Havana park in 2000. The Rolling Stones are at present on tour in South America, with dates this month in Brazil, Peru, Colombia and Mexico. Other British musicians who have held shows in Cuba in the past are The Manic Street Preachers - they played an indoor show in Havana in 2001 that was watched by Fidel Castro himself.
