Johnny Depp and the episode of bringing his dogs into Australia

It is strange that a couple of tiny 5 or 6-inch teacup Yorkshire terriers named Boo and Pistol and belonging to the 52-year-old Johnny Depp of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ fame could create so much commotion in Australia.
This has been reported in indianexpress.com dated 13 September 2015.
Johnny Depp opened up on the subject during his appearance on a TV show with Jimmy Kimmel of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star denied that he had smuggled the dogs into the country. Depp has clarified that he was under the impression that all the necessary paperwork related to the dogs had been taken care of.
He added in a lighter vein that there might have been other things smuggled.
Apparently, Australian Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce had threatened to kill the pets if they were not flown back to the US.

Hollywood loses Wes Craven (76), the director who gave us horror movies like Scream

Hollywood lost writer-director Wes Craven (76) to brain cancer at his home in Los Angeles. He was famous for the Nightmare On Elm Street and the Scream films.
This has been reported in news.sky.com dated 31 August 2015.
Wesley Earl Craven was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on 2 August 1939 and, after earning a master's degree in philosophy and writing from John Hopkins University in Maryland, he briefly taught as a college professor.
He entered the movies through pornography – he worked here under a pseudonym. And, his mark on Hollywood came in 1972. It was his first film The Last House On The Left. The film was a horror film about a group of teenage girls who got abducted and taken into the woods.
Then, in 1984, he made a mark with the film A Nightmare On Elm Street – he wrote and directed it and gave a break to Johnny Depp. It seems he got the concept from his own life – as a youth in Cleveland, he lived next to a cemetery on an Elm Street.
Anyway, he cemented a place in the horror genre in 1996 after directing Scream and went on to its three sequels. (Image courtesy wikimediacommons.org)

Goofy was the inspiration for Jar Jar Binks of Star Wars admits George Lucas

George Lucas, the creator of the space age saga Star Wars has admitted that Goofy was the inspiration behind his creation of the character of Jar Jar Binks. His admission has come after years of being criticized. He made this admission to surprised fans at a Disney convention.
He made the comment as he was welcomed into the club of Disney Legends along with Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp. The venue was the convention center in Anaheim, California, where the D23 Expo is taking place.
This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz dated 15 August 2015.
Jar Jar Binks is a computer-generated character and it first made its appearance in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. It did not go down well with fans of Star Wars and they accused Lucas and others of pandering to younger viewers with a comic sidekick.
Johnny Depp was also present. He had donned the costume and thick black eyeliner of Captain Jack Sparrow for the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film that is due out in 2017. His appearance delighted his fans – it was a sort of surprise.

Will Smith takes over the mantle from Hugh Jackman in ‘Collateral Beauty’

It is now decided that 46-year-old Will Smith will take over the mantle from Hugh Jackman for the movie ‘Collateral Beauty’ - Smith has signed a deal to star in the movie and takes over the role that was to have been played by the Aussie hunk.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 9 August 2015.
The role to be portrayed by Smith would be that of a New York advertising executive who experiences a personal tragedy. His colleagues dream up an unconventional plan to help him break him out of his depression. It does work but not in the way intended!
Rooney Mara is already on board the project and Alfonso Gomez-Rejon will direct the drama film for which Allan Loeb will write the script.
From information available till now, PalmStar is fully financing it while Smith's Overbrook Entertainment is producing it along with Anonymous Content, PalmStar and Likely Story.
Jackman, it seems, left the project in May due to scheduling issues – he is already attached to The Wolverine 3. Last month, it was reported that Johnny Depp could be his replacement but, finally, it was Will Smith.

Johnny Depp in a new avatar – bottle feeding a baby bat

52-year-old Johnny Depp, instead of dressing up as Jack Sparrow for a treasure hunt, as he normally does, has, this time, got into a totally new role. He has taken over the mantle of another avatar – that of bottle-feeding a baby bat. He is seen in this new role feeding his new pal who is wrapped in a green blanket with a tiny yellow bottle.
This is seen in the video that has been released by the Australian Bat Clinic and Wildlife Trauma Center – it seems Depp has sponsored the tiny bat and given it the name of Jackie Sparrow.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 26 July 2015.
